Kyle was by nature a sunny soul. He liked to see the best in everyone and every situation. When the electricity in his hometown had been cut off due to flooding he had shrugged his shoulders and trusted that power would return soon, in the meantime there was cricket matches with the added challenge of having to wield the bat standing in a foot of water. When he had half carried half dragged Westley to the warmth of the pub he had automatically assumed that he would not be murdered in his bed by a teenage psycho that night, and as it turned out his assumption was right.
When the news of the mass breakout had reached his ears however Kyle had struggled to remain optimistic. The slight chance that Wes might be free again was fantastic, in theory. But when later stories of escaped mutants being beaten to death by frightened citizens, getting lost in the woods or simply freezing to death in the streets made the prison sound much cosier.
The worst part was that Kyle had no way of finding out if Westley was alright or not. The mutants had no permitted contact with the outside world save through contracts, and Kyle had nowhere near that amount of money yet. He had long since lost hope that his scrawled notes were ever received let alone read by anyone (though that didn’t stop him writing them). Bribing one of the guards was an option but it was a risk the Australian was unwilling to take.
So when the request came out for anyone who might have knowledge about the escape mutants Kyle had seized the opportunity with the grip of a joey. His pride was a willing sacrifice for any news that his sheep was safe.
He presented himself at the police station with all the essential forms of ID including his driver’s licence and passport. There was no need for him to appear suspicious, he was doing lawful work (even if it was for personal gain). He nodded his head politely to the person at the desk and explained why he was there “I may have some information on one of the escaped mutants, is there someone from the force that is looking for them that I can talk to?”

"I'm a hungry spider and you're a beautiful butterfly"
MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | The news of the mutants having broken out sent a sort of panic in the city of Archadia. Having seen arena fights and news time to time about a human getting hurt or dying because a mutant attacked was all too common. Ren too was one who was very much aware of what these creatures were capable of. While people back in the days of his grandparents put blame of violence on certain breeds of dogs, these days it was all the mutants. It wasn't uncommon Ren was called out to evaluate a 'violent' mutant that committed such crime, and nine out of ten times, Ren found himself ordering euthanization on the very mutant. Preparing for a massive amount of executions coming up with the possible harm these creatures could bring upon the citizens, Ren was no doubt stressed out. The best would be that no innocent bystanders got hurt, but perhaps, that was hoping for a bit too much...
His desk was stacked up with folders, them all having been selected out of the cabinet behind him. He was mumbling to himself as he had a soft tuned music playing in the background to keep his focus straight. "B-49761, K-72837, V-66192, V-71997, W-51698..." He confirmed, matching the folders he took out with the list he had been given by one of the staff in the underground. He had a star mark next to 'V-71997', having been told that that was the mutant suspected of letting loose the others. Strange... Ren swore he saw this mutant before -- he seemed like a rather innocent one. Never could judge a book by its cover, he supposed.
A phone ringing noise caught Ren's attention when it rang in his office, and he moment tarily placed the list of runaways down on the desk. Noticing the call was from the front desk, he answered calmly, curious as to what they wanted.
"Kondou speaking," He answered, blinking when he was greeted and explained what was needed, "...Thank you. I'll come out." Putting the phone down, he gave one glance to all the papers on the desk and sighed before heading out.
The lady at the front desk who had asked Kyle to wait a moment earlier hung up the phone and smiled at him, casting the hall a glance. "Officer Kondou should be out in a moment, sir." She said, going back to her duties. Within minutes the Asian man walked into the scene, smiling to the Australian.
"Hello, sir. My name is Ren Kondou. I was informed you may have information regarding one of the possible escaped mutants? Please, come into my office. I will need to se the information you may provide to see if it may help with our search... This way, please." With that, Ren began walking towards his office.
After reaching it, Ren invited the man inside and smiled. Letting the man sit in one of the chairs, he sat in his own, beginning to move papers around. "I apologize for the mess... Or the lack of tea or coffee. Please, make yourself comfortable, and tell me the mutant's name or features, so I can check if it's among oen of the runaways?"

The lady at the reception desk dialled a number to the person who Kyle would presumably tell his information to and exchanged a few words before hanging up. “Officer Kondou should be out in a moment, sir" she informed him before coolly turning to her own tasks, seemingly forgetting that he was still there. No small talk, not even a remark about the weather outside was exchanged.
Kyle sat himself down on one of the plastic waiting chairs and tried not to fidget. This was remarkably similar to all those hours spent sitting in front of the principal’s office when he’d been caught bringing in one critter or another onto the school’s premises. It wasn’t as if the animals had harmed anyone, but people seemed to have such an unnecessary fear of spiders and pythons. A fear that had been well out of Kyle’s understanding, hence why there had been so many detentions during his school career. The only difference between then and now was that he was not in trouble time, even if the uncomfortable feeling remained. Heaven knows what it was like for the actual lawbreakers who passed through here.
He did wait for very long. Within minutes a slight Asian man was approaching him and introducing himself as Ren Kondou. “Please, come into my office. I will need to see the information you may provide to see if it may help with our search.” He led Kyle to a tiny cluttered office and directed him to a have a seat. "Please, make yourself comfortable, and tell me the mutant's name or features, so I can check if it's among one of the runaways?"
“Okay well, his name Westley, though he told me his name was Sage at first. He’s short, kinda fluffy, has light brown hair that curls around like a ram’s horns.” Kyle demonstrated with his fingers how the tawny locks had curled over his ears in a way that made Kyle tease him about being Princess Leia occasionally. “Wes could blast air at things and fly a bit” he continued “He would’ve been taken off to Weeds when they found him, but he’s old enough now to be transferred over. I’ve never known him to be aggressive or anything, unless the rugby was on” he finished his description and sighed. What he would give for one of those evenings where they’d watch the rugby and bicker about whose country had the best team. “That’s pretty much all I know” except for everything else he knew that was nobody else’s business, thank you very much.

"I'm a hungry spider and you're a beautiful butterfly"
MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Ren got himself comfortable in his chair and listened as the man explained to him the features of the mutant he was speaking of, wondering if it was one of those among the runaways. He didn't remember the mutants by their names, so the name in fact was pretty useless in terms of information, but he didn't say anything. Besides, names could be changed immediately anyway once the owner decided they wanted to; knowing a Westley one day didn't mean they'd definitely be under the same name the next day. What Ren instead listened more carefully to were the powers described and the physical features, as ridiculous as they seemed at first.
The man then opened the binder and began to look through the files, trying to find one that matched the criteria of the described mutant. There were plenty in the file; the mutants indeed created a major escape, bulging his binder slightly to the point it did have some thickness to it. File after file Ren flipped through the papers, his raven colored eye scanning each one in deadly silence, like a hawk searching for tiny mouse hidden in autumn's fallen leaves. When he got to the end, he went back once more to double check, skimming through the laminated pages until he reached the end once more, sighing and shaking his head.
He didn't know if he felt relieved that that was one less job, or troubled that no mutants were able to be identified as of this moment. Sure he could match pictures with people who walked the streets, but it was always better to have somebody who was familiar with the very mutant that escaped. They would know possible places the mutant would head to and certain behavioral patterns that could help lead to the capture.
"Thank you for your time, but..." Ren started out, finally putting the binder aside to speak to the man, "I don't see a Westley in the reported runaway mutants, and the Underground and government have been pretty clear as to which ones escaped captivity. This is one mutant less we have to worry about, so your help is greatly appreciated." He started, standing up and holding his hand out to shake the other's. "We hope to see you keep cooperating with us to keep this city safe."

Mr Kondou listened to his description without any comment or even questions of clarification. His memory was in top condition, Kyle had to give that him. Once he was finished he brought out an alarmingly large folder and began leafing through it. His attention was completely diverted from Kyle and the Australian did not quite dare interrupt him, even with a casual comment. Instead he sat back in his chair and studied the ceiling until that got boring and he returned to studying the officer who was staring at the folder like it might give him the answer to life the universe and everything.
Eventually the man sighed and set the binder to one side. "Thank you for your time, but... I don't see a Westley in the reported runaway mutants, and the Underground and government have been pretty clear as to which ones escaped captivity".
“So, he’s probably still inside then? Well that’s something.” Replied Kyle as casually as he could whilst trying to mask the relief he felt. Wes was not missing, admittedly he was probably still hungry and miserable but at least he was safe. The officer thanked him for his time and concluded the interview with "We hope to see you keep cooperating with us to keep this city safe." Kyle couldn’t tell if that was meant to be an order or a request so he nodded and answered “Sure thing. Have a good one officer” and saw himself out. He managed to maintain a steady walk out of the office, past the receptionist, out the door and for another three blocks before his nerves puttered out and then he ran flat out the rest of the way home and hid himself inside of his pub. It was well into an evening spent polishing all the glassware that Kyle realised that the officer had not used his name to address him even though he must have known it. What sort of a person did that? Kyle knew that he would not be going near that station again unless under protest.
