America - Alfred loves America. He really, really does. He likes the ideals it was built on, he likes the Land of Freedom, all of it. Someday, he wants to go back to America, to relearn America. He takes pride in his country, a patriot through and through. At the same time, he's ashamed of it, of the fact that it's not standing up against the injustice that's filling its society. How could the Land of the Free let something like this happen? It doesn't help that many of the worst things Alfred's done were committed in the U.S. But someday, Alfred promises himself, he'll change that. He's got to. Maybe that would mean he changed too.
Cards - Alfred can gamble and play. He has a tendency to cheat though. But hey, gotta get the money somewhere.
Cons - Alfred's dream con is to get all of the politicians in Archadia together in one room and scam all of them simultaneously.
Cooking - Alfred can cook enough to get by on. He makes a great hamburger.
Ghosts - Alfred has always disliked ghosts. This escalated into fear when he realized how wrong he was about mutants. There were a few close calls where the mutant was close to death by the time he was done with them...perhaps they did die. Alfred doesn't know. He doesn't really want to.
Glasses - Alfred doesn't need glasses, technically speaking. His vision is good without them. He picked them up while on the run with Mattie and decided to keep them. They're an easy way of hiding his identity.
Guns - Always at least one. A pistol or handgun for self-protection. Al has good aim but he doesn't use his gun unnecessarily. He feels much more secure with his gun at his side. He doesn't put too much faith in gun safety, though he does acknowledge he probably should be more careful.
Hacking - Gotta love him some hacking. He does plenty of it, wiping away security footage, taking information out of databases... Alfred does need to go back and erase some of the data from when he was in the U.S. though...
Hair - Alfred doesn't really comb his hair or do anything with it unless absolutely necessary. He cuts it himself. He self-dyes his hair and actually isn't that terrible at it.
IDs - Alfred stockpiles them. Fake IDs, fake badges, fake papers...
Knives - Alfred doesn't like knives much. He does keep a pocketknife in his sleeve for convenience though.
Loneliness - Alfred does not like to be lonely. He likes talking to people...it feels natural for him and it distracts him. At the same time, he's afraid of growing too close. With his job, that's not a good thing. Not to mention...he's scared of getting hurt again.
Music - Rock, all the way.
Name - His real name is Alfred James Fitzgerald. He dropped the James and tacked on Jones instead while on the run.
Optimistic-Pessimistic-Optimist - Alfred is an optimist who has become pessimistic who pretends to be optimistic, if that makes any sense. Alfred remains an optimist at heart, but he can't seem to recognize that anymore.
Pets - As a kid, Alfred had two goldfish, one canary (which he tried and failed to teach to talk), and a dog at some point.
PTSD - post-Justice Day. Status: mild
Physical contact, mostly unexpected physical contact, will warrant flinching and (depending on the circumstance) possibly backing away. Sensitive areas include wrists and neck.
- Abduction, tying down, torture
Any mention of these words may incite a negative reaction from Alfred.
Brief inability to breathe.
- Difficulty staying or falling asleep
Alfred never slept much in the first place, but now he can't get more than three or four hours of sleep a night. Falling asleep can sometimes prove difficult as well.
Alfred has trouble focusing on anything and his mind has been wandering a lot.
- Hyper-vigilance/Exaggerated startled response
Reinforced by Natalya's visit. Alfred's a bit jumpy. His emotions are somewhat fragile.
- Video Games (Horror movies?)
Alfred started avoiding video games (at least certain video games) after he discovered he couldn't quite bear to look at them. He's trying to expose himself to them for longer periods of time, but it's not working very well.
...is not safe. Alfred avoided his apartment for the first week. This conflicts with his desire to avoid other people though.
May not be a purely PTSD thing, but Alfred has been avoiding all of his friends from before, mainly for their safety.
Nightmares occur for Alfred every day for the first two or three weeks, then almost daily for a while after that.
Will possibly occur with any of Alfred's triggers.
Recklessness - "Mom's dead, Dad's dead...who the hell cares if I'm dead?" Alfred's recklessness stems from this thought. Alfred wants to live deep down inside, but he doesn't quite value his life. He'll take risks if he wants. Not to mention Alfred gets a bit off on the adrenaline.
Self-Preservation - Alfred isn't going to throw just anyone under the bus if it gets him out alive. However, he is very much about self-preservation. It's an instinct from those years on the streets that hasn't quite faded. Alfred won't selflessly give himself up for just anyone. There are only a few exceptions to this.
Undernet - Alfred is known as FreedomBoy on the Undernet. He must've been feeling oddly optimistic when he chose that name. Alfred is pretty decently active on the Undernet, but he takes care to never leak out anything about himself. Alfred helps out with keeping the Undernet secure from the government, though he's definitely not the head of it. Wonder who is...
Alfred's sexual/romantic orientation is...a bit of a mystery, at least to him. If I had to classify him, probably demisexual/grey-asexual and demiromantic.
Alfred is essentially a kid who was forced to grow up too fast and he didn't have adequate time to discover exactly who he was. Thanks to the high risks of his job, Alfred actively discourages himself from forming close relationships, romantic or not. He fears that people he loves or cares about will be taken away from him or hurt because of him.
In terms of sex, Alfred is 'too busy' for that. (He's a virgin.) He leans towards being demisexual...though then again, it's not like he has enough close friends to prove it. He's not objected to sex necessarily...he just doesn't feel the need for it and finds there are more important things.
If Alfred were to be in a relationship, the only thing he'd want would be kisses and cuddles. Someone to cling to and talk to. He just needs someone to depend on.
