The KNP Manufacturing factory has opened today in Archadia. A historic moment, this factory will mark the first time that mutants have ever been put into the labor force. The factory will be secured by hand-picked guards around the clock to ensure the safety of all humans. The Head of the Underground, Elizaveta Héderváry, assured the public that the facility would be well-maintained and safe the entire time. “The guards that we have chosen are specifically trained to deal with any issues that may occur. They have been to the most rigorous academies and many have made careers through the Underground. The mutants will still remain housed in the Underground at night, and will only work in the factory during the day.” Roderich Edelstein, legal advisor to the Governor, also submitted a statement. “The government believes that...strictly controlled avenues to work for our mutant population can only benefit human beings by providing duties to mutants so as to not sit and wait to be bought in the Underground, and provide a source of hard-working cost effective labor to the market. If KNP Industries proves successful with their project, we can expect a great deal of companies looking into utilizing mutant labor - which is why the Governor is so proud that Archadia is among...the first to host this kind of factory.” All mutants were specifically chosen for the factory after a rigorous interview process that was conducted by both officials in the Underground and representatives from KNP Manufacturing. Both Héderváry and Edelstein emphasized that the mutants chosen for the factory were compliant and hardworking, and that no shortcuts were taken in the process. There has been some dissent from members of the community opposing the factory. Several opponents of the factory pointed to the previous year's mutant breakout as a source of concern. “If the government cannot properly secure mutants in a facility designed to hold them, how can they be expected to do so now?” Boris Dorokhov, a former spokesman for the right-winged party in Archadia, argued. “Giving them jobs will only lead to further demands. Mutants must be kept under lock and key lest they develop ideas of their own.” For the most part, however, the opening of the factory went smoothly. Gilbert Beilschmidt, the man who spearheaded the movement to construct the factory, was beaming as he cut the ribbon to the factory. He was unfortunately unavailable for comment. |
