So deep in thought he had been, Antonio did not begin to notice the clear shift back towards anger until Lovino began to speak. Impending violence was definitely on the horizon by the looks of those claws – those eyes. The rising of fur, prickling and puffing up like a porcupine, made the air itself seem a little more tense and still in anticipation. Antonio’s own change in response was obvious. The man frowned, shook his head in complete sincerity. He had hoped they were getting somewhere by bonding over food. He may have spoken too soon in regards to the collar situation. “ That’s not what I mean at all, lo siento.” He made a hand gesture, looking up as if he would find the best words to put this in written across the ceiling. No such bold printed savior was found, even with his amount of dumb luck. “ If you aren’t wearing a tag of any kind, though, they will get upset and take you back. I’d rather you be as comfortable as possible without that having to happen – so, if it was something light… Something not necessarily made for animals.” Well… it would have to be something kind of sort of to animal neck size, at least. That did make it a bit difficult in respect to keeping it outside of the realm of cat collars… “ But it is still the first day!” He began again with a smidgen of returned hopefulness in his tone. “ So you could give it some thought at least, right? I could try and find some jewelry or things I already have around the house if you wanted to give it a try just to see.” Perhaps he should not have continued along this line of conversation to this extent – but, this was Antonio. And he did want to get as much of the official matters out of the way as soon as possible so that the rest of Lovino’s stay could be calm and fun. What chance that was at this point seemed to be up to him and how he took up Antonio’s offer. made by MISSO for use only by BECCA

He's the meanest little kitty... As the man frowned and shook his head, Lovino continued his offensive stance, ready to pounce any moment. The tense atmosphere perhaps would've made a stranger wince, but Lovino wasn't going down without a fight. Perhaps it was some sort of strange pride in him, that disallowed him from just backing down and allowing a material around his neck, he just didn't want it on at all. It wasn't like he was going to plan to leave, anyway. Where would he go? The city of Arcadia was a huge maze for a small, isolated mutant as himself. He was smart enough to know he wouldn't last days out there. So why did humans always want to just humiliate him even more?
Lovino watched the Spaniard look up to the ceiling, almost tempted to look up himself. He fought the urge and kept his eyes locked on the human, his ears laying back to the point his head was just as round as the moon. The hand gesture only worsened the feline's attitude, as he lifted a forepaw, ready to smack it if it came any closer to him. Luckily the man didn't try to touch him, and the hand lowered back down, resulting in the forepaw doing the same, resting on the floor. He simply snorted when the man explained that the government would be upset if he wasn't wearing tags, rolling his eyes. Of course. He already knew that, and that just made him not want to wear it even more. They already ruled every aspect of his miserable life, and he wanted to fight back on some level. Even if it was something as small and petty as a fucking collar around his neck.
As if to suddenly change the mood in the room again however, the human seemed to back down for now, saying he should give it some thought himself. The eyes narrowed once more, but Lovino simply turned his head away, huffing softly through his nose. Hah, as if. But, it was one thing to just end the conversation there. This man was stupid enough to push the matters even further, suggesting jewelry and such. Lovino couldn't help but to feel a growl rumble from deep in his chest.
"I said, I'm not wearing anything. Nothing around my neck!" He argued, his fangs showing once more and whiskers pulling back away from danger. "Drop it, human!! You don't fucking... You will never understand!! It's not like you know how it feels to have to always have something on you to show you're owned by a human... By... By someone weaker than yourself!! To have to listen, obey, clean, cook... All day, every day, until you just can't fucking move... I'm not wearing something that even shows off that that's the life I lead without my choice!" Sometimes emotions were beyond simple vague feelings - sometimes there were very physical sensations that came along with them. Hitched on for the ride to make the experience that much more poignant for the person. The phrase 'felt their heart drop' often confused Antonio as to how it could be translated into... well, it actually happening. For all of the hissing and the loud, angry words, even after he had scratched Churro, Lovino's rage in responsse to the tags idea struck Antonio the hardest. To know how it feels to be marked for the world to see that he was owned - specifically by someone deemed weaker. No, he had never been subjected to that. Nor to have to work until he could not move by someone's choice other than his own. Antonio knew what it was like to work until you were sore all over, sure, but he always did it of his own voilition. Talking to Churro in the kitchen earlier, he had been more spot on than he had known at the time. Lovino had received far worse treatment than Churro had in his short life to warrant such distrust... And this was a very hard, saddening thing for Antonio to realize. It made his heart feel like both a heavy and a hollow object in his chest, slowly sinking into dark and murky waters until his throat was taught and dry. He actually caught himself swallowing as he shook his head of it. " No, I don't understand what that's like." Antonio spoke honestly. What else could he have the right to do in the face of that? All that was left was his honesty and his best intentions. And really, he did not imagine the latter would get them very far at this moment. Not that he would expect them to now. " And I'm sorry that you do, Lovino." Although that did... sound rather cheap to say now. Again Antonio is shaking his head, this time with a sigh. It would have to be dealt with eventually - he only hoped that Lovino would stay in the house for the time being, and that that would buy him enough time to get this worked out. " I won't bring it up again until later, I'm sorry." Although he is slow about it there is no pause between speaking and standing up. " I'm going to do the dishes. Just let me know if you would like more spaghetti or anything." It was faint, but Antonio did offer one last almost hopeful smile before he's turning back to go into the kitchen with a much heavier heart and mind than before. made by MISSO for use only by BECCA
